About Workforce Training

We offer workshops for professionals and volunteers to help organisations provide support for clients living with HIV. The joint aim is to reduce stigma and raise awareness around sexual health.

We provide general training opportunities for individuals to attend which you can review here. We also visit organisations, providing specific, tailored information to suit the setting. This may be a housing association, residential or care setting, a large business or any other sector.

Our trainers are DBS checked, qualified and experienced in Public Health delivery.

About Bespoke Training

Herts Aid prides itself in tailoring training to suit your needs, regardless of your workplace or environment.

However, if you don’t see a session that works for you, your staff or your students, we also create bespoke training to perfectly match your requirements.

We understand the different needs of organisations, and are very happy to negotiate content and length of courses. Please contact us for costings, which will depend on the amount of new material to be developed and the length and complexity of the work. Herts Aid may be able to work at a reduced rate for non-profit organisations. All trainers are DBS checked, qualified and experienced in delivery of the subject.

Examples of bespoke training include:

  • An identity morning aimed at groups of 20-25 teenage boys within a school environment
  • A professionals ‘discussing sex’ training session developed for Hertfordshire County Council’s social workers
  • Sexual health for mental health professionals

School Testimonials

LGBTQ+ Awareness for Beginners and Relationship Tools for Life for Sixth Form

“Your services are crucial to the life development of our students. It makes them less insular and helps them to have a better understanding of themselves and those around them.”

Advanced Sexual Health for Sixth Form

“When asked [anonymously] whether the students felt that they were in a stronger position to make better and more informed choices, more than 80% of the students agreed. […] In my experience as a teacher, I would also wholeheartedly agree, and there is no doubt that Herts Aid will remain a permanent fixture on our PSHCE annual schedule.”

Sexual Health Basics and Contraception Workshops for Fourth Form (Year 9)

“We have used Herts Aid extensively in the last year and fully intend to continue using them in the future. The training represents excellent value and the Herts Aid staff have been a pleasure to work with from the moment we first contacted them.

Staff and students have appreciated the small group training given to our Year 9 pupils, and this will be followed up with larger lecture style sessions with Year 10 students this coming year. The feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive, discussions have been sensitively handled, and questions answered clearly, whatever their nature or context.

Our trainer, has been superb and I would thoroughly recommend her and Herts Aid to any school or organisation looking for suitable sex education training. The training offered by Herts Aid has enhanced our PSHE programme significantly.”

Relationships and Identity Morning for Year 9

“Our Year 9 boys had a carousel of sessions looking at relationships, pornography and difference. Both groups reported back that they had been well engaged and learnt very useful information on the subjects. Staff and boys have benefited enormously from the sessions and we look forward to working with Herts Aid in the future.”

Advanced Sexual Health for Year 11 and Year 13; #ThinkB4UStrip Year 8

“The lessons have helped improve our students’ knowledge and understanding of different sex and relationships topics like consent, STIs, porn and how to be safe in relationships. The students were impressed with how the trainer approached difficult topics with humour, honesty and confidence. She showed a lot of passion and enthusiasm when delivering the lessons to our youngsters.

It has been a pleasure working with Herts Aid. The training is good value for money as the trainer was able to teach a large number of students and covered a wide range of topics in one hour. We hope to continue working with Herts Aid in the future.”

Healthy Relationships, LGBTQ+ Awareness for Beginners and Sexual Health Comprehensive for Year 11

“Having Herts Aid deliver all of this in a 4 hour morning teaching session has been amazing and very beneficial learning for our pupils. […] The feedback from staff members and pupils was extremely positive.”
