Hertfordshire County Council has announced that a new provider will run Hertfordshire’s sexual health service from April 2015.
Hertfordshire County Council has identified Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) as the preferred bidder who will run the new integrated sexual health service in Hertfordshire, working in partnership with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The new service aims to improve sexual health by providing easy access to services through open access ‘one stop shops’. These will be in accessible locations across the county, have extended opening hours and will provide services to meet sexual health and contraceptive needs on one site.
The new service will include the full breadth of genito-urinary medicine and contraceptive services and provide a dedicated outreach team for young people and those at high risk to poor sexual health.
Cllr Teresa Heritage, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Localism, explains: “Sexual health is an important area of public health. Our top priority is to continue to invest in sexual health services and to get the best quality we can for that investment, focused on Hertfordshire residents.
“We are pleased to appoint Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust, which already has a wealth of expertise in providing high quality local services.”
Julie Harris, Divisional Director of Operations for Allied Primary Care Services at Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust added: “CLCH is delighted to be selected to provide the integrated sexual health service in Hertfordshire in partnership with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. We are very proud of our services and are excited to have the opportunity to develop the new service for Hertfordshire residents. Our strapline ‘Your Healthcare closer to Home’ means that we provide high quality services to meet our clients’ needs in convenient accessible locations.”
